From the Manufacturer
The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

A well designed boot that is elegant-biker in style, but more suited to the pavement or office than serious outdoor wear.
Was surprised the upper leather above the lower buckle was so supple; to describe this leather as thin might be unkind, but accurate. Haven't had these long enough to ascertain how they will hold up, but stitching seems suspect and if compared to say Australian made RM Williams boots, then they fall short in quality, but to be fair are only half the price. They are made south of the US border though others might know whether this means anything, but I kinda think made in the US of A still signifies superior quality.
I was anxious of ordering the correct size, as shipping international returns is a costly exercise, but am pleased to say the US size 10 fitted well. Read all sorts of reviews re size of Frye boots so to better assist others where these boots are unavailable let me put the size into perspective and compare to other brands.
The Frye size US 10 equates to a Doc Martens size US 10. A Merrels size US 10.5 hiking shoe, and for those residing down under, an RM Williams Australian size 8.5-9.
